Walk through the doors of St. Peter Academy and you will observe cheerful students eagerly making their way to their classrooms, as the principal greets each child by name. Parents and guardians of preschoolers and kindergarteners see their children make the transition from home to school, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing their children are in a safe and nurturing environment with genuinely caring teachers, bright and stimulating classrooms and a gated, fenced-in playground. Children in grades 1 to 8 are taught a traditional curriculum by teachers who strive to capture the attention and imagination of each student and to cultivate a love for learning and pride in doing good work. Classes are small and academics are challenging. Teachers are aware that children learn differently, and are creative and innovative in developing teaching methods to ensure that each child has a thorough understanding of the material covered. Classroom lessons require active participation by each student and are supplemented by field trips and in-class special programs which make learning meaningful and fun. Expectations are high and teachers help students to reach their goals. Should a child need extra help or more challenging material, it is made available. Teachers communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding academic progress and are glad to schedule conferences to discuss any concerns they may have about their children.
